We think 3 on 3 basketball is awesome for skill development at all age levels because…You get MORE touches on the ball (you're only sharing it with 3 players instead of 5). Six passes is an average possession in 3 on 3, meaning each player will have the ball at least TWICE every possession. You have more space to try new moves and practice new skills. Your defensive footwork and agility gets challenged because you have to cover more distance with fewer players on the court. You IMPROVE passing, dribbling, shooting, cutting, spacing, rebounding and defense. All players have equal opportunity to make plays and help their team win. Recreation Program Coordinator: Lyndsey Younger.

Sunday, November 19, 2017 at the Nichols Community Center, Belleville. Preview Creations 1-3 PM & Awards Presentation: 1:30 PM. What better way to preview the spectacular Gingerbread creations before they are distributed downtown. Chance to view all of the contest entries in one place before going on display along Main Street. All of the prize money and awards will be presented for each category.

ARE YOU ACHING TO BAKE? Let your imagination run wild! Gumdrops, sugar plums, frostings and of course lots and lots of GINGERBREAD! Those are just some ideas others have used constructing their gingerbread masterpieces. Keep in mind, your creation will be on display in downtown store-fronts from November 20, 2017 until January 1, 2018. It must be sturdy and able to withstand sunshine and temperature changes. Avoid things like heavy chocolate, marshmallow cream, candy glass or any item that will melt easily or ruin your piece. Clear lacquer sprayed over your finished piece will go a long way to preserving it for the duration of the display. Don't forget to give your finished piece a name. All entries will be judged by a qualified panel now based on a 100 point scale. Some of the things the judges look at closely are: Overall aesthetics of the display, originality, impact, quality of construction, intricacy, attention to detail and techniques used. The judges decisions are final! Further rules and explanations can be obtained at the Belleville Parks & Recreation Department.

Categories:

Master's Category - Experienced Bakers, Creative individuals or Culinary School Students/Graduates.
General Category - Adult bakers entering creations that do not fit into the other described categories.
