AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL DINNER & SILENT AUCTION
(January or February)
Join us for our baseball banquet to celebrate the history and tradition of Hilgard baseball, see teammates and friends, and reminisce about all the great memories. This will be another special “baseball” evening and an opportunity to say “Thank you” to Hall of Famer, Whitey Herzog for his continued support to the City of Belleville and the Whitey Herzog Field.

DADDY / DAUGHTER DANCE
(February or March)
This is a special night for Daddy's to spend with their little princesses. Enjoy a pasta dinner while listening and dancing to the sounds of music from a DJ. Each couple receives a free commemorative photo taken by a photographer to make this an evening to cherish forever. Registration begins in December.
(Ages 1-7) (March or April)
Held in Bellevue Park, this event is open to the public and is
co-sponsored with the Turkey Hill Grange. There are free cookies and punch after the hunt with a “Special” Bunny making an appearance for photo opportunities. Mark your calendars and come join us for a great morning of fun with the kids!!! The event will take place rain or shine with required pre-registration beginning in February.
FREE FISHING DERBY
(Ages 4-12) (May)
This is a catch and release fishing event held at the lake in Bellevue Park and is open to boys and girls. Prizes and refreshments are available to all child participants.
(June and July)
Bring your lawn chairs and settle in for some great music outdoors! Beginning in June of every year, different area bands will entertain the public starting at 7:00 p.m. These free concerts are held on Monday evenings in downtown Belleville on the Public Square and on Thursday evenings at beautiful Bellevue Park.
TOUR de BELLEVILLE
(2nd Friday in July)
This annual community bicycling event raises funds for safety equipment and provides a quality recreational opportunity for individuals and families in our community. Registration begins in May. This event is the second leg of the Triple Crown Award. (Law Day Run, Tour de Belleville, Gingerbread Run)
CALLS FROM SANTA
(Ages 3 - 8) (November and December)
The Belleville Parks and Recreation Department is sponsors Calls From Santa with assistance from the Downtown Optimist Club and Belleville Jaycees. Local calls are free. Calls will be made in the 618 area code only. Parents must complete the Call Request Form and return to the Belleville Parks and Recreation Department no later than November 30. Calls will be placed Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays between the hours of 5:30 - 8:00pm during the first and second weeks of December

Are you aching to bake? Let your imagination run wild! This Belleville tradition is a fun way to celebrate the holidays. There are five categories of entries: Master Category, General Category, Landmark/Historic Category, Fantasy Category and Children's Category. All gingerbread entries will be judged by a panel of judges. Over $4,000 in prize money from sponsor donations will be awarded. Each category has a First, Second, and Third Place and an Honorable Mention Prize. Special awards of a Mayor's Choice Ribbon, Hallmark Award Plaque, and Celebrity Choice Ribbon will also be awarded. Entries are turned in for the judging in November. All creations are displayed in the windows of downtown stores and businesses to be enjoyed by holiday visitors until after New Years Day. Registration is from May through November.
GINGERBREAD 5K RUN /WALK
(1st Saturday in December)
This run begins at St. Elizabeth's Hospital at 8:30 a.m. The course takes you throughout the streets of beautiful downtown Belleville with an awards ceremony following at the Historic Lincoln Theater. This is the third and final event in the Triple Crown award program. (Law Day Run and Tour de Belleville are the first two events) Registration begins in November.
GINGERBREAD COOKIE DAY
(2nd Saturday in December)
Formerly the Gingerbread Cookie Walk, this event invites participants to stroll through quaint shops and great eateries while collecting holiday cookies. Register to walk and purchase cookie bags to carry your cookies along the 5K and 10K marked trails. Pre-registration is required to guarantee your cookies.
ANGEL OF HOPE MEMORIAL CANDLELIGHT VIGIL SERVICE
This Candle Light Memorial Service is held at Bellevue Park for all Parents, Grandparents, relative and friends who have lost a child of any age for any reason. We come together to remember and honor our children's memories, beginning with a brief program at the Stone Lodge followed by a candlelight procession to the Angel of Hope statue.
