New Developments
Route 15 Corridor

The Route 15 corridor in west Belleville has seen significant growth during the past few years with the construction of Belleville West High School, the 17th Street road extension with access to Belleville's newest park (Bicentennial Park), and Route 15 intersection improvements, including the roundabouts at Illinois Route 15/158 and Centreville Ave. This growth trend continues with the newest project across from The National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.

On May 26, 2015, the Belleville City Council gave final approval on a series of tax incentives to Missionary Ventures, LLC, which will assist in the development of a 33 acre tract of land located directly across State Rt. 15 from the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows.

The $60 million development, first announced in October of 2014, will include two hotels, a convention center, a Hofbrauhaus which is exclusive to the Metro area, an additional four restaurants, and a convenience store. Construction on the Hofbrauhaus is expected to begin by early Fall 2015.

Plans for the St. Louis-Belleville Hofbrauhaus were announced at a special Press Conference held at the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows on February 9, 2015.

On September 9, 2015, the Illinois Department of Commerce and Economic Opportunity approved the City's application to expand the Belleville Enterprise Zone, allowing the Missionary Ventures, LLC and Game On Sports Development, LLC projects, across from the National Shrine of Our Lady of the Snows on IL Rt. 15, to move forward.

These projects are proposed to include a 46,000 square foot convention center, four hotels, a Hofbrauhaus brewery/restaurant, four upscale restaurants, a convenience store/gas/fast food complex, and a multi-sport complex for soccer, lacrosse, rugby, and sand volleyball.

The developments are expected to bring over one million visitors to the site annually. The Enterprise Zone allows for the exemption of sales tax on building materials, which is a critical component in making these vitally important projects become reality.
