Santa Parade

Santa & Mrs. Claus
Join us for the Annual Santa Parade when Santa comes to town on Friday, November 25 at 10 AM. Sponsored by the Optimist Club of Belleville, this 64 year tradition that began in 1952, is the largest parade in Southern Illinois, featuring floats, marching bands, dance groups, and the arrival of Santa & Mrs. Claus.

The parade route begins at 17th and West Main Streets and proceeds east on Main Street through the Public Square. It continues down East Main St. and ends at Forest Ave. The parade disbands near Union United Methodist Church.

Sponsored by the Optimist Club of Belleville, Santa's House (circa 1963) on the Public Square is a perfect location for Santa and Mrs. Claus for the holidays. Visit Santa from November 25 - December 24.

This open air German Christmas Market on Belleville's Public Square features European vendors, German food and beverages, and entertainment and demonstrations. Stop and shop before and after the Santa Parade. The Christkindlmarkt will open at 8 AM on Friday, November 25. 
Visit the Live Reindeer at the market on November 26 & December 3, 9 and 18.

OPENING DAY CELEBRATION, Friday, November 25 at 6 PM
Celebrate the official opening of the Christkindlmarkt with live music by Old Salt Union and a spectacular Laser Light Show. See additional details about the Opening Day Celebration.

View downtown shops and restaurants from a unique perspective. Enjoy a free, round trip trolley ride that takes you around the beautifully decorated Veterans Memorial Fountain and passes through the open air German Christmas Market. Your ride will take you past decorated windows and streetlights, all under a canopy of white lights.

The Trolley Stop is located in the first block of East Main Street. Free trolley rides are offered Thursday - Sundays from November 25 - December 18. View the 2016 Trolley Schedule for exact dates and times.

27th Annual Gingerbread Contest
If you like to bake and create, register to enter this year's Gingerbread Contest. There are categories for all ages and all levels. All entries must be submitted on Sat., November 19. View the contest entries in downtown merchant windows from November 23 - January 1, 2017.

10th Annual Gingerbread 5K Run
