Excavation & Repairs


Excavations in the City require an Excavation Permit from the Engineering Department.

Please follow these instructions when applying for a permit:

  • Download, print, and sign the required Excavation Permit
  • Read the Permit Conditions section included with the permit application
  • Include the $1,000 Right of Way Bond and Site Plans with the application 
  • Return the completed and signed application, right of way bond, and site plans along with the applicable fee. The Fee Schedule can be found in the application. 
    • Upon notification of Excavation Permit approval, The Engineering Department will direct you via email on procedure of making payment.
  • Additional information can be found in Title XV: Chapter 158, beginning with Section 158.033 Street Excavations of the City Code of Ordinances.

Use Report A Concern to report various concerns or to request repairs to city infrastructure, including, but not limited to the following:

  • Damaged curb/sidewalk
  • Intersection visibility
  • Loose/protruding manhole cover
  • Water leaking on roadway

Streetlight Outages

PLEASE NOTE: As of 1/23/2023, all streetlight outages should be reported to Ameren IL directly at (800) 755-5000 between 7:00 a.m. and 7:00 p.m. Monday through Friday or by email to: streetlightrequestil@ameren.com. Streetlight outages can no longer be reported through the City's Report A Concern form. This removes the intermediaries and ensures a direct line of communication between you, as the customer, and your provider.
