Lt. Colonel James Spargur joined the Belleville Police Department in 1987. During his time on the department he gained experience by serving in the Patrol Division, Juvenile Division, Narcotics Division, Detective Division, Administrative Division and serving as a Field Training Officer.
At various times during his 30 year career he commanded the following Divisions/Units: Patrol; K-9; Narcotics; Traffic; Telecommunications; Code Enforcement; Street Crimes; DARE; Civilian Support Personnel; and School Resource Officers.
Lt. Colonel Spargur was appointed to the position of Assistant Chief of Police in 2009. He assists Chief Clay with the day-to-day operations of the police department and oversees numerous projects and initiatives aimed at achieving the department’s goals and objectives.
Lt. Colonel Spargur is proud to serve the citizens of Belleville and is committed to the community as well as the future of the Belleville Police Department.
